Definition of “Shinkyu” at ISA
“Shinkyu (鍼灸, pronounced [SHihN k-y-OO])” is a Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion was imported to Japan from China in 6th century. It has uniquely evolved in its theories , techniques and tools into Japanese style and became Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion.
Currently there are countless Japanese styles from various schools and groups. Regardless of which, any style of Acupuncture and Moxibustion derived from Japan and original, can be called as “Shinkyu”.
International Shinkyu Association is achieving more with our initiatives than ever before. We work on many exciting projects to help improve the knowledge and skills of acupuncturists, and are very proud of the progress we continue to make. Learn more about what we do, who we help, and how we work every day to promote positive change.
